René Friijhoff

Senior Project Manager

Dr. René Friijhoff is a Senior Project Manager at Advanced Resources International, Inc., with over 25 years of experience across the oil and gas, geothermal, and carbon storage industries. He is an internationally accredited Principal Technical Expert specializing in subsurface evaluation and integrated project execution.

At ARI, he currently manages the largest carbon capture and storage project in the United States, with responsibility for technical integration, regulatory deliverables, and multidisciplinary team coordination. His work focuses on site characterization and Class VI permitting in support of large-scale CCS deployment. Prior to joining ARI, he served as Chief Geophysicist for Shell Netherlands, Exploration Lead for Shell Trinidad and Tobago, and Geothermal and Carbon Management Advisor at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where he served on the U.S. Executive Committee of the National Risk Assessment Partnership (NRAP) for engineered geologic systems.

Dr. Friijhoff holds a PhD in Geology from Utrecht University in the Netherlands and is a licensed Professional Geologist (P.G.) in Texas. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
