Karen Lechtenberg is a Sr Project Manager with Advanced Resources International, Inc. She has over 15 years of experience working in the oil and gas, carbon capture and storage, geothermal, and emerging energy industries. Her background is strongly rooted in subsurface characterization, operations geology, reservoir modeling, and project development and implementation.
She currently leads the development and execution of federal and privately funded projects related to carbon capture and geologic storage, hydrogen storage, and other subsurface energy applications. She has led and submitted multiple Class VI UIC applications across several EPA regions, guiding projects through site screening, Area of Review delineation, reservoir simulation, and regulatory strategy. Prior to joining ARI, she spent approximately 10 years in oil and gas development and operations, focusing on reservoir characterization, exploration, geomodel construction, drilling programs, and oversight of field operations.
She holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Geology from the University of Kansas, with a minor in Astrobiology. Her graduate focus on carbonate sequence stratigraphy. She is a Fellow with the Colorado School of Mines and an active member of ISO TC 265 (Carbon Dioxide Capture, Transportation, and Geological Storage), AAPG, AWG, SEG, and SPE professional societies.
