Joel Main

Project Manager

Mr. Joel Main is a Project Manager with Advanced Resources International, Inc., bringing over 11 years of experience in carbon capture and storage (CCS) subsurface project development. His work spans site characterization, storage development planning, regulatory strategy, and economic modeling for commercial and federally funded programs.

In his current role, Mr. Main manages and delivers technical leadership for CCS projects across the United States, supporting clients through the full project lifecycle from early screening through Class VI permitting and monitoring. His core focus areas include Storage Field Development Planning, CCS economic modeling, regulatory strategy, and Class VI leadership, with a proven track record in successful CarbonSAFE proposal development. Previously, at Battelle Memorial Institute, he served as a project lead for multiple commercial and government site screening and characterization studies and as a task lead for the Midwest Regional Carbon Initiative (MRCI). He has subsurface experience in the Appalachian, Illinois, Michigan, San Joaquin, Denver-Julesburg Basins, and the Gulf of Mexico basin.

Mr. Main received his M.S. (2014) and B.S. (2012) in Structural Geology from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
