George J. Koperna Jr.

CEO

Mr. George Koperna is the Chief Executive Officer of the firm and a recognized leader in advanced energy development, enhanced recovery, and carbon management. With an engineering foundation in unconventional oil and gas, gas-assisted enhanced recovery, and subsurface storage, he helps bridge technical innovation with practical, deployable solutions for today's energy and decarbonization challenges.

Throughout his career, Mr. Koperna has played a pivotal role in advancing residual oil zone (ROZ) extraction and CO2-enhanced oil recovery (CO2-EOR), contributing to new ways operators unlock value from complex reservoirs while improving environmental performance. He has also led the execution of integrated pilot projects that demonstrate safe, secure, and commercially viable approaches to enhanced recovery and carbon sequestration. Today, his work focuses on combining enhanced hydrocarbon recovery with naturally fractured reservoir science to improve performance in unconventional oil and gas systems. Beyond project execution, he serves as the U.S. Head of Delegation to ISO Technical Committee 265 on Carbon Dioxide Capture, Transport, and Storage, where he leads international collaboration on standards that guide the future of CCS and CO2-EOR worldwide.

Mr. Koperna is a Distinguished Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and recipient of the SPE International Sustainability and Stewardship in Oil and Gas Award. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from West Virginia University.
